This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent and we will be lighting the first of the Advent candles. We will share communion and Kwaku will preach on Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6-7 – the prophecy of the birth of a Saviour.
HoverAid: Many have commented how they enjoyed the talk(s) by John Greaves, CEO of HoverAid. The leadership agreed to send an extra gift of £100 after the visit. If you would like to support the work of HoverAid CLICK HERE.
Christmas Cards: As in previous years, Hilary is making space on the notice board for people to pin up a Christmas Card to all in the fellowship. Just write your card and any message you want to put (not forgetting your own name) and pin it up. There will be a box for making a donation to charity if you wish. This is better all round than writing lots of individual cards (and inevitably forgetting someone).
Carol Service: There will be a special Carol Singing event on 11th Dec at Coffee morning and Brian from Chatteris will be playing the organ. All welcome. Other carol events around the village are: Church Experiment “Carols in the tent” 6-8pm on 18th Dec, St. Mary’s 5pm on 21st and “Carols on the green” at 5:30-6pm on 24th Dec.
Advent/Christmas Services: On 22nd December there will be a special Christmas Family Service and on Christmas Day a celebration event at 10am. Finally on 29th December there will be an open format service reflecting on the past year and praying for the new.
Church communication: Our web site was last updated about five years ago. We are now looking at revamping the site to refresh the message and reflect our new ministry. If you have ideas in this area speak to Jon. In addition we are investigating a system that will allow members of the fellowship to see what’s happening at church and to see their rotas and choose the dates they would like to serve. It also provides a contact list. Watch this space.
